The New Haven St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 12, 2023. The parade, which featured a new route for 2023, even included a family fun zone. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade tradition was born in New Haven on March 17, 1842, when about 90 members of the Hibernian Provident Society, a mutual aid organization formed the previous year, marched through the city streets behind a banner made especially for the occasion. Traditionally this event brings together many different communities from the Greater Hartford area to celebrate the Celtic culture. Come down to the parade route early and get your seat. The parade begins at Capitol Avenue by the State Capitol, takes a left onto Main Street, and left on Asylum Avenue, a left on Ford Street, and then ends by the Memorial Arch.
